Jesus and Peter
Jesus sits on the shore beside the fishing boat, speaking with Simon Peter and the gathered disciples after a miraculous catch. Fish lie at the water’s edge, the boat and rigging rise behind them, and the men listen closely as the risen Christ turns an ordinary fishermen’s shoreline into a place of calling, forgiveness, and commission.
The scene reflects John 21, where Jesus appears by the Sea of Tiberias after the resurrection, provides bread and fish, and asks Peter, “Do you love me?” His command to “Feed my sheep” restores the disciple who had denied Him and renews Peter’s pastoral mission. The shoreline setting also echoes Luke 5, when Jesus first called Peter from his nets to become a fisher of men. This artwork serves church teaching on discipleship, restoration, vocation, forgiveness, and Christ’s patient leadership of His followers.
